Unbelievable Beauty & Me :-)

I know the Outer Hebrides probably aren’t on most of your “must see” lists, but I can’t imagine a more picturesque place.  The beaches look like the Caribbean, save for the fact that no one is on them!  The water is a tad cold, to be sure, but I’ve braved colder water at Cape Cod and in the Blue Hole back in Talladega County, Alabama.  Here is a panorama from the South Uist coast looking out to our field site-

The birdwatching is amazing as well!  Here are some Plovers that caught my eye yesterday-

And since many of you have never met me, only entrusted your kids into my care, here is a selfie I took on Orasay Island yesterday. Remember, its too late to get a refund! 🙂

  1. thank you for all the posts> Coming to a preplanned trip to Scotland in August, so won’t make it to South Uist, so sad to say. But, my ancestors, the MacDonalds emigrated from there, so I feel very strongly connected and plan to visit next summer!
